I'm concerned about what I'm seeing on social media. Specifically about the EO's on Medicaid, gay marriage, abortion, free lunch program, and lowering prescriptions for those on SS.
There's also reports of increasing bird flu contamination, putting our chicken population at risk.
I eat a lot of chicken, and we use a lot of eggs. Don't want to see those prices increase!
Then there was the tragedy of the AA plane vs Black Hawk Helicopter crash.....it's being blamed on DEI??? That's ludicrous. (No, not the singer!)

A House committee in Idaho passed a resolution to ask the Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges. (Gay marriage.) It passed 46-24.
It's not a bill, and there's no active legislation... yet. From my understanding, House Joint Memorial 1 is essentially a formal request asking the Supreme Court to "restore the natural definition of marriage, a union of one man and one woman.” They want to bring gay marriage decisions back to the states.

Trump claimed the US sent $50 million worth of condoms to H*mas which they used to make b*mbs
-Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law which requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody undocumented immigrants
charged with minor theft offenses (with no due process)
-An executive order was announced to build camps for up to 30,000 undocumented immigrants at Guantanamo Bay
-The White House put forth an executive order that criminalizes teachers for supporting trans and non-binary students
-That lengthy executive order also has some pretty problematic language involving teaching about race and American history
-RFK Jr's confirmation hearing was disrupted by protestors; he dodged questions about past statements
-Bird flu has been confirmed at an Indiana egg farm
-The White House formed the 1776 Commission to promote nationalist propaganda
-A priest threw up a *salute* at the National Pro-Life Summit (and people cheered) and his license has been revoked
-An army helicopter crashed into a commercial plane outside of Washington DC
-Protests occurred across the country/world today (including Evansville and Bloomington) and more will follow

-There is a new executive order about investigating the crash, but it actually focuses more on the Obama administration's "dangerous 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' tactics"

-Trump’s FCC director (Brendan Carr) is going after PBS and NPR, accusing them of violating federal law by airing commercials; Trump and Musk have criticized them of having a liberal bias in the past and have threatened to defund them
-Trump announced 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico to begin Saturday. He has not decided if this will include crude oil. Produce, lumber, cars & car parts, and electronics are just a small part of what we will be paying more for–I haven’t done enough research on this yet.
-RFK Jr’s confirmation hearing continue today; he was questioned about his anti-vax claims, and he seemed to have a weak understanding about how Medicare and Medicaid work
-The Pentagon's intelligence agency has halted celebrations of MLK Jr's birthday, Holocaust Days of Remembrance, Black History Month, Pride, etc. after Trump's DEI order

Some of my friends in the alphabet soup community are expressing terror; others I've seen who are still in my state seem perfectly fine as they go about their day. The above comments are from a STRAIGHT WHITE PERSON who has recently written DEI into her books, and is a former teacher.
